Day 1, Ljubljana, Slovenia
You'll be met in Venice, Italy (or Ljubljana, Slovenia) and transferred by a scenic drive through pristine countryside to charming Ljubljana, Baroque capital of Slovenia. After check-in, you'll begin a walking tour that includes many of the major sights of the old town and a boat ride along the Ljubljanica river. This evening you'll go with your local host to a favorite local restaurant for a sumptuous dinner with wine. Overnight Ljubljana. (D,O)
Day 2, Mokrice Castle / Zagreb, Croatia
After breakfast your excursion starts at Mokrice castle, first mentioned in 1444, the castle stands on slightly elevated on the hillsides of Gorjanci in the Sava valley, close to the border with Croatia. Now a golf resort, the original building, its private chapel and the English-style park grounds, evoke visions of its past history. Afterwards a visit to Zagreb, capital of Croatia. The city has tradition and history dating back almost one thousand years. Zagreb is not only rich in cultural and historical monuments, museums and galleries, it also has a variety of modern shops, and offers good quality of diversified restaurants and recreation facilities. Return to Ljubjana for overnight.

Day 3, Ljubljana, Slovenia (optional Postojna and Lipica Tour)
Breakfast at your hotel.You'll have a free day to wander on your own past the town's art nouveau buildings or to your favorite museum. Overnight Ljubljana. (B,O) (Optional tour available: Postojna and Lipica - the tour begins in Postojna, home of the largest caves in Europe. You'll tour the fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train followed by a snack lunch. On to picturesque village of Lipica, where for more than 400 years have bred the aristocratic Lipizzaner horses.Included is the show-program featuring the star lipizzaner studs. $179 per person/4 minimum)
Day 4, Ljubljana, Slovenia (optional Wine Country Tour)
Breakfast at your hotel. Day of leisure. Overnight Ljubljana. (B,O)
(Optional tour available: Wine Country to Vrsic Pass, (5,252 ft) to the valley of the Soca River, one of the cleanest rivers in Europe. You will pass the sites of great World War I battles along the green mountain valley to the vineyards in the Brda hill. You’ll enjoy wine tasting and lunch in Goriska Brda on “The Wine Road” where wonderful vistas of hills, churches, countless vineyards, and orchards assault your senses. Included are wine tastings and lunch. $179 per person/4 minimum).
Day 5, Bled / Bohinj, Slovenia
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll head to Lake Bled, often mentioned as the pearl of the Alpine region due to its emerald-green lake, a church on the island in the middle of the lake and a medieval castle from the 11th century on a cliff above the lake. After a ride around the lake, and a tour of Bled castle, you continue to the largest glacier lake in Slovenia. Situated in the region of the Julian Alps mountain range, with the highest Slovene peak (Mt. Triglav) rising above it, a 15-minute walk takes you to the source of the Sava Bohinjka River and the peaceful Bohinj Lake. You will also see St. John's Church adorned with 13th century frescoes. On the way back to Ljubljana for your last overnight, you'll enjoy a farewell farmhouse dinner with wine. (B,D,O)
Day 6, depart Slovenia
Early morning departure to the airport in time for your departing flight from either Venice or Ljubljana. (B)
