Damir
brings with him over 30 years of experience
in the tour and cruise business. His
studies began at the University of Zagreb
and include degrees in Marketing and
Tourism from Centre International de
Glion, Switzerland. Fluent in seven languages,
he spent his life in tourism first in
native Croatia, then for 16 years in
Switzerland with major companies like
Yugotours, TCS-AAA Switzerland and Hausmann-American
Express, before coming to the United
States in 1984. It was then he started
his own wholesale tour and cruise company
and become a proud U.S. citizen. Damir
always had a loyal following for his
attitude of perfection and for providing
unforgettable experiences.

Rose started her travel agency over 30 years ago when her enthusiasm and
love of people and travel moved her career path from the airlines
to the travel agency business. During her career she also served as
regional President and National Director for the American Society
of Travel Agents (ASTA) and on numerous airline, tour, hotel and car
rental boards. Through progressive direction and customer satisfaction,
her company grew into one of the largest, most respected tourism organizations
in the Southwest. When Rose led a tour to Dubrovnik in 1990 handled
by Damir's tour company, she returned to Austin with more than a few
souvenirs. One year later, Rose and Damir married and the two merged
their combined 60-plus years of experience into a new business partnership.

Goals of Sterling Vacations |

The business grew to include
seven travel agencies, two travel superstores, a travel school, travel
brokerage firm, incentive group business, wholesale cruise and tour
operation and a travel consulting company. For all their achievements,
the couple was featured with a cover story in the national industry magazine, Travel Agent,
as well as many other national and international travel publications
through the years. Their knowledge, experience and confident styles
placed them in high demand as speakers or industry panelists and moderators
both in the United States and in Europe.
Several years ago, Rose and Damir decided to give up the pressures of running a huge operation with large personnel demands and sold most of their companies. Both embraced and wanted to develop new opportunities in the ever-expanding electronic media of travel and to create unique travel experiences to share with others.Having traveled to every continent and on nearly all cruise ships, they wanted to share their knowledge and vibrant enthusiasm about many of their favorite places with others. From this interest and their previous wholesale division, grew Sterling Vacations, an online cruise/tour wholesaler with many interesting products.
Catering to people who have an acute interest in travel and appreciate personal touches while enjoying the real life, foods, wines, traditions and people of other countries in comfortable surroundings, will love their specialized offers. Some departures are personally escorted by Rose and Damir and include many "insider" experiences the two have enjoyed over the years. Though many are to their favorite European destinations such as Greece, Italy, Croatia and Slovenia, there are other exciting trips to varied destinations from time to time. They hope you will join them on many of their memories-for-a-lifetime trips.
